SCOUTS, guides & youth groups

The Out There Forest School site is a wonderful place for Scouts, Guides and Youth Groups, with great opportunities for bushcraft, shelter building, foraging, species ID and nature connection.   We have a permanent fire circle and composting loo. 

We run set badge programs for all Sections, and we also offer bespoke daytime sessions to suit your requirements.

Activities are tailored to the age and experience of participants.

Example Programmes:

Cub Backwoods Cooking Badge

Cubs will learn how to prepare and light a fire for cooking.  They will explore different aspects of fire safety and  food hygiene and cook their own lunch on the fire  - including a chance to sample some foraged delicacies!   This is a day program and runs from 10 a.m - 3 p.m on Saturday. It includes all equipment, food and hot and cold drinks.

Charged at £18 per Cub, min 10 max 20.

Beaver Camp Craft Badge

 Beavers will help to build and light a campfire, try their hands at putting up a tent, and cook a warm snack on the fire.  They will learn how to tie a Reef Knot and enjoy some mini pioneering. Sewing a badge onto a felt square to start their own Camp blanket completes their day.  

This is a day program and runs from 10 a.m - 3pm on Saturday. It includes all equipment, lunch, snack and hot and cold drinks.

Charged at £18 per Beaver, min 10 max 20
